Justin R. Tannir, MD

Justin R. Tannir, MD is a board certified ophthalmologist practicing at both Traverse City Eye’s locations in Traverse City and Kalkaska, Michigan (located on the second floor of Kalkaska Memorial Hospital).

Dr. Tannir completed his residency at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit and continued his training there for his fellowship in glaucoma. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University and his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Throughout his years of education and training, Dr. Tannir has been actively involved in clinical research in both cataract and glaucoma. He has been an attending physician and clinical professor at the Kresge Eye Institute as well as the John D. Dingell Veteran’s Hospital in Detroit Michigan. He has been at the forefront of innovation in advanced cataract and glaucoma surgery. Dr. Tannir travels the country as a guest speaker discussing modern management and surgical techniques for glaucoma.

Dr. Tannir commented, “It has been a personal dream of mine to provide quality patient care and clinical education in a community like this one, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to establish deep, lasting bonds of trust with all of you.”

Dr. Tannir is originally from Troy, Michigan. He is an avid soccer player. Dr. Tannir is looking forward to living and working in beautiful northern Michigan, where he enjoys virtually all outdoor activities.
